The event room was laid out with rows of white tables which were dotted with glass vases housing sweet paper flowers. I made sure I landed a good seat and plumed for the front row like a geek! Before the forum kicked off, there was time for a little shopping and soon found reason to reach for my purse! I bought a couple of cards as a little momento and something for my scrap book.
The three speakers were Alice Rebecca Potter, Emma Block and Rachel Lewis. Each speaker presented a powerpoint presentation detailing their experiences in the industry, examples of their work and provided useful tips for success. The overwhelming theme running through each presentation was the importance of creating an online presence to not only showcase a portfolio but generate exposure by using social media and blogging as an extension of your personality and work. The forum’s last chapter consisted of a Q&A which provided interesting topics such as breaches of copyright and knowing the value of your work.
I found the whole event extremely insightful and would like to thank Shipshape Studio for producing such a brilliant event. I will definitely keep my ears to the ground to ensure I make the next one!
Beautiful setting – if Hammersmith was our home, this would definitely be our local
