Dancing under the fairy lights

Dancing under the fairy lights

This time last year we were in Krakow, Poland. We decided to escape for five days to inject some Christmassy cheer into our hearts and also to reconnect to some roots – my late Granddad was born and raised in Poland, although he came from Warsaw, I had heard a lot from my mum over the years about how beautiful Krakow was, especially Zakopane. Although we did not make it to the mountains, we had a wonderful time, soaking up the Christmas market, meeting friends who also flew out for a holiday and managed to find perfect Christmas gifts for the family. Oh and tried a wonderful drink… nut vodka!

Our hotel was centrally located, near the town square which was perfect for us because we could nip around most places by foot. Everyday was packed with seeing as much as possible although my favourite day was entirely spent at the National Museum of Krakow. I probably took the most amount of photos at the gallery, which I’m sure would have been frowned upon here, but fortunately they were very relaxed.  The day was also tranquil as visitor numbers were low, this enabled us to amble around freely and take the exhibition pieces in at our own pace. I have selected a couple of my favourite images, ranging from beautiful lace to stunning portraits… hope you like!
